I'm REALLY Liking where the game has gone! One thing that never made sense to me was the 'secondary function' of Peer. There is a spot on the screen that it looks to, and snaps to when close enough. What is the purpose of that?
Could I recommend some kind of auto-shoot option that doesn't require you to hold down the left-click to shoot? After playing this game for long periods of time, stress builds up in my right hand.
Love the sound design, the concept, the simplistic shapes and to differentiate between each enemy. The upgrades are a nice feature I would suggest a "shop" button to show what to press in order to get an upgrade since it doesn't seem as intuitive. That and a quick "HELP" on the main menu that goes through the buttons, the standard enemies, and how to get upgrades.
i feel like it's way too difficult now. when you remove your focus from the regular enemies for 10 seconds, there's like 20 of them, and it's hard to split your focus between the boss and the enemies. i recommend toning down the amount of enemies that spawn, at least during boss fights
one problem, at least on my end, when you get really far, the game might be reaching some window cap, because the bosses sometimes don't apear outside of the sight, drain, and main vision area, also the shop doesn't always open, and you can't see smileys head. which is my main, and only problem
great game, great concept/utilization of the windows, quite laggy especially the second boss, also if combined with the slime boss, but that's my PC having skill issue whatevers, hope it rises up in visibility.
Beautiful game and an incredible concept. I have a few criticisms, but overall I found this game to be an absolute gem. I would talk more about why you should play this game, but I won't, because I think you should just go play it for yourself and see how great this game is...And also because I'm better at explaining negative feedback than I am with positive feedback. Just know that behind all the upcoming critiques, I'm actually obsessing over this game.
Now, onto the critiques... I really wish this game had something of an ending. I love the simple endless gameplay, but after an hour-long run that shows no signs of stopping, it'd be nice to finish off by doing something like opening a third tab in the shop with one item that's worth like one million points that gives you a "the end" screen. The same stats might appear for the game over screen, but it'd give a satisfying cap on everything.
The smiley is definitely my favorite boss in the game, but I wish there was just some small change that would make revealing the boss easier when it's in a bad spot. The easiest way I found to reveal it is to find its exact tab and click on that to pull it to the top, but that's less of an option early on. I'd like it if after 20 seconds or so, the smiley would flash red and/or white all the way up onto the top layers to signal that it's about to move again, so that you don't have to wrestle with the screen any longer to reveal it from that awkward position.
Other than that, I just love this game and I wish it was so massive that it'd be unlikely to see a boss more than three times over like an hour of gameplay. I feel like if I went back in for another long run like the one I just had, I'd have pretty much the same experience, and although what I'm asking for is probably not a realistic expectation, I still felt the need to ask.
ludum dare version was fine as hell but the update stutters a LOT even running the opengl version. specially with bosses like the snake and the slime, and when bellowing, the game stutters like hell. btw whats up with the transparent/purple blots that show up sometimes when shooting the walls/bellowing? i think the stutter might be because of them? either way is there a way to turn them off? cuz they ugly af
Hey, this is an amazing game! The only thing I wish is there was a borderless windowed option — I just "lost" in a hilarious and tragic way where I got really late game and was fighting two smileys at once and was nigh unkillable, but I accidentally clicked X on my game window while the smileys were both jumping around. after nearly 40 minutes of gameplay, it took me a second to process what happened.
Or perhaps this is a intended possibility? Nonetheless, a tragic end to my run.
Having a great time with this so far. I appreciate that it's not just a game displayed in moving windows, but the windows also create unique gameplay.
I've only got to the first boss and this game is very difficult but I love it.
I'd love to know how people feel about the perks, it seems like Bellow is the most useful of the three perks by FAR. At least it's the one I'm getting first. I see the utility of Drain if it helps me kill things, I guess. And the Sight one sure is sittin' there.
So... others are saying that they beat the game and stuff like that, am I missing something? I got the secret with the eye, drain, and below but that was pretty much it. I beat all all the bosses I could fight, smiley, slimer, spiker, and wrym. Though nothing else would happen, this is the furthest I got with the game.
This game is honestly amazing, I feel like I'm honestly cheating life by downloading this for free. The update 2 made it even more enjoyable, before it got boring decently fast, but now I feel tense all the way, specially with the creative bosses.
Hope it releases on steam as a complete paid experience one day :)
What does seek do? Cause ik it lets you see into other boxes but you can put it in an outline but after that nothing happens? It juat seems to be a bad drain
seek at lvl 2 generates healing orbs every so often, and also, if you put drain in a specific spot along with seek and if you activate a certain ability, something happens
How are you supposed to kill the final boss? The game just crashes and I can't tell if there is a time limit or if I die or something. Also I can't really tell if my balls are hitting him or not
the only issue being that clicks aren't detected outside the focused window (i use i3wm with a window rule to set all the game's windows as floating), is it fixable?
what should i do now, im basically invincible and the game is running at seconds per frame
(Edit 1)
The Shop UI has ascended to another plane of existence, i now how to click all the buttons and see if my money decreases, also health is the most expensive upgrade (last i saw it was 1,000,000+)
This runs on a heavily modified version of godot, which requires building the engine from source on native hardware. I can look into it, but it was lower priority than finishing it at all. Regardless, it runs perfectly well on WINE, from many people’s reports
i dont usually play games but i just wanted to say that this game has quickly become one of my favorites right now. this update is really awesome i love the music : )
Really like this game spent hours on it and it does crash at times, cant wait for the major update, whats coming? New bosses? New abilitys? New upgrades? cant wait to see
Game is great! I always love games where it uses the mechanics of moving the actual window. Wish I could play it more but running the game directly from the .exe has performance issues. So I proceed to run it with the opengl.bat file as mentioned. But now the game crashes after a few seconds.
The time it takes from opening to crash seems random. Sometimes is in 2 seconds, sometimes it can take up to 15 seconds. Is there anyway to troubleshoot what could be causing it?
I'm running Windows 11 on a machine with AMD Ryzen 7 5800X3D CPU + NVIDIA RTX 3080 Ti card.

wow
Gotta be the Farthest I ever got in this game.
uh ok

I found out what it does, but I'll say only this: Peer isn't the only other perk that snaps somewhere on the screen.
i only have one question, have you beaten the game?
wait you can beat this game
Could I recommend some kind of auto-shoot option that doesn't require you to hold down the left-click to shoot? After playing this game for long periods of time, stress builds up in my right hand.
use an autoclicker

It does say "press Space to open the shop" if gem's are not spent for quite some time and you have lots.

Incredible concept executed perfectly.
Please keep adding to it.
i wanted to play it more but my mental and schedule said no
pretty fun game 10/10
you can collect less stars then bosses killed??
great game! love it!

then just "beat" the game

thank you!
there may be some smiley changes in the near future.
there is an ending to the game :)
very cool game, really hope that there is more update in the futur and make the game even better

i can't even get the ludum dare version to not stutter
i just got the game so maybe im missing somethin
End game is way too easy now.
The price of shop items should go up faster, at the moment it doesn't go up fast enough to keep up with the rate of money earned.
Bosses should also be refreshed faster to speed up the end of the game.

i did this once too-- rest in peaces in solidarity

help this is killing my computerrrrrrrrrrrr

try holding it down until it starts blinking, then hit a wall
I've done that, all it does is make the wall go back in a constant rate rather than it being hit back only to try to come back to the character.
This game is honestly amazing, I feel like I'm honestly cheating life by downloading this for free. The update 2 made it even more enjoyable, before it got boring decently fast, but now I feel tense all the way, specially with the creative bosses.

finally beat this game
very nice!
wait how do you win? I played for like 1 and a half hours cos i thought it was endless
you gotta get every ability, put them in their correct place, then use bellow in the center of the eye

You need to shoot at the window so it hits the boss
Very fun game! Although, it can be somewhat easy to cheese the smiley face boss by pausing and quickly clicking the x while unpausing.
the game works really well with WINE!
the only issue being that clicks aren't detected outside the focused window (i use i3wm with a window rule to set all the game's windows as floating), is it fixable?
don't know if this helps you but you can hold to fire
Despite the game being made for windows, it actually runs very well on Linux with Wine, which is very surprising for a game like this one
i blatantly ignored the rules and i paid the price. 10/10
on it boss
on it boss
This game is great but it could use some more new weapons and upgrades, but it is very good
hey guys ive been here for over an hour
what should i do now, im basically invincible and the game is running at seconds per frame
(Edit 1) The Shop UI has ascended to another plane of existence, i now how to click all the buttons and see if my money decreases, also health is the most expensive upgrade (last i saw it was 1,000,000+)
(Edit 2) I Got bored, is this a world record?
Its a little fun
Very fun and well done. The game is already great on its own, so the little secret makes this game feel very special. Great job! :)
Nice Game, keep it up 👍🏻
Played some time and no Bugs or crashes so far. Its simple but cool and the background music is nice too.
Good game!
I actually made one using a similar technique in Godot 4. A Tamagotchi-style game with cats :)
https://caprog.itch.io/pet-charm
I wish it worked for Linux
it would if the developer simply pressed the “export for linux” button.
This runs on a heavily modified version of godot, which requires building the engine from source on native hardware. I can look into it, but it was lower priority than finishing it at all. Regardless, it runs perfectly well on WINE, from many people’s reports
Kid Named Running The Game Using Wine/Bottles/Lutris :
Yeah, I know that works but wine does not run well on my computer
skill issue
fair point
This game is so awesome
i dont usually play games but i just wanted to say that this game has quickly become one of my favorites right now. this update is really awesome i love the music : )
thanks so much, means a lot :)
Can you please port this game on linux
It runs perfectly on wine. Just download wine and run this command:
WINEPREFIX=$(pwd)/pfx wine windowkill.exe
If you want to run this game in compatibility mode use:
WINEPREFIX=$(pwd)/pfx wine windowkill.exe --rendering-driver opengl3
yeah but yknow they could just push the button.
GNU/Linux
linuxbsd actually.
Really like this game spent hours on it and it does crash at times, cant wait for the major update, whats coming? New bosses? New abilitys? New upgrades? cant wait to see
great game! crazy how a game this simple got me entertained for so long lol

did this problem ever get solved? im having the same issue
